Making inlays with DeskProto is easy
How to create a wooden inlay on your CNC machine, using DeskProto to create V-Carving toolpaths.
Explaining how to create an inlay in DeskProto Version 8 (DP V8.0, 18 min)
With your CNC milling machine you can create beautiful inlays in wood. Though this used to be a complicated process, the DeskProto software makes it very easy. This video explains how you can use V-Carving to achieve precise, sharp, and perfectly fitting inlays.
For in inlay you need a base and a plug. The plug will be inserted into a pocket (a hole) in the base, and as the two parts are in wood of two different colors, on the top surface a 2D image will result. Both parts are created using the same 2D vector drawing as CAD data, in this video we use the word "CNC", written in Times New Roman font. The video shows how to create toolpaths for both parts with DeskProto, how to machine the parts, how to assemble them and finish the inlay. As you will see: a beautiful result. An easy way take your CNC woodworking to the next level!
