Machine a statue with undercuts: queen Nefertiti

How to deal with undercuts when rotary CNC machining

Advanced topics for rotation axis machining. Including a download link for the STL   (DP V6, 32 min)

The Nefertiti tutorial video tells about the "Nefertiti hack" and then teaches you about these advanced rotary topics in DeskProto:
  • Combining rotary with plain XYZ
  • Custom support tabs
  • Dealing with undercuts
  • Waterlines for steep surfaces
  • Dummy operations
  • Chaining a number of operations
  • Safety position while rotating
The video has been created using an older DeskProto version (V6.1), as the steps in this process have not changed the information still is valid for the current version of DeskProto. Be warned though that a few features in DeskProto V7 have been given a better name: The 'Segment' now is called Material block, and the 'Sub-segment' is called Area to be machined. Also: 'Support bridges' has been changed to Support tabs, the commonly used name of this feature.

Rotation axis machining is possible only in the Multi-Axis edition of DeskProto.
