Use the fourth axis to create a cabriole leg

Using rotary CNC toolpaths that travel below the rotation axis

CNC machining a cabriole (curved) table leg with DeskProto   (DP V7, 9.5 min)

This video is now obsolete, as a newer video is available about this same subject, that uses DeskProto Version 8: 4-axis machining a cabriole leg in DeskProto V8.

Machining a Curved table leg (also called "cabriole leg") on a 4-axis CNC machine is more complicated than most other jobs, as the cutter needs to move below zero (below the rotation axis). This video explains how this can be done using the DeskProto CAM software, and how to deal with some typical problems that will arise. The reward will be a beautifully curved wooden table leg.

Rotation axis machining is possible only in the Multi-Axis edition of DeskProto.
This DeskProto video is on HD quality (1280x720 pixels).
Subtitles are available and can be switched on, in English and in Dutch.
