Hi,
I would like to know if DeskProto has some kind of rest machining strategy when doing multi side milling.
I'm looking for a software that would be able to cut the time needed to make some specific parts.
For the simplest example, let's say you want to make a ring out of a wood block.
Continuous toolpath won't do the job because the tool stays along the rotary axis, so the inside of the ring won't be completely cleared.
So the solution might be something like 4 side machining, where the rotary axis is only used as some kind on indexer. But with this solution, except for the first side, the machine will spend a big part of the time cutting air, because the areas will already be cleared by previous operations.
Would DeskProto offer a solution to this problem ?
Thank you

The answer needs to be no: DeskProto does not offer rest material recognition. So in this example for sides 2, 3 and 4 indeed will include toolpaths that machine air. The only thing that you can do is make the area to be machined smaller for these operations, which however will not be possible for all geometries.

Lex.
