Most of the projects I undertake are bas reliefs, using a block that is already machined to size , so does NOT need profiling. What settings do I use so that the full diameter of the cutter clears the
edges of the block? When I select skip total ambient and select
no extra for cutter, it leaves to much material on for the first pass. (eg. Using a 6mm ball nose cutter with a 1mm stepover, the first pass tries to take 4mm off). Yet when I select extra for cutter, it doesn`t work. Any suggestions?

Hi MollieMilo,

To be honest I do not understand the question.
I assume that you only want to machine the top of the block, so not the four sides. That can be achieved by selecting 'No Extra' for the Border settings of the Operation.
I do not see how that can make a difference to the layer height of the first roughing pass.

Lex.

Problem now sorted. Just read through the manual and found out where I was going wrong.
