Is to clear the in y direction instead of z. Limited headroom when using index

Can you explain what you mean ?
I do not understand the question.

If I'm doing an index cut the bit has to rise above the pieces diagonal as job moves to new side. Could I move it in the y axis instead to avoid z height limitations

Thanks, now I understand.
This is indeed possible, however not automatically. The DeskProto wizard "Two or more sides, automatic rotation" defines this extra Z-movement for every operation, in the Start/End commands of that operation (Geometry operation parameters, tab Advanced).
After completing the wizard you can edit these settings:
- remove or edit the Z-axis commands
- add the Y-axis movement commands that you need.

You can use the extra button "Apply to chain" to make these changes in all operations in the chain.

Thanks I'll try that. As a matter of interest I asked Gemini this question. It didn't find your answer but it wrote me a Delphi program to parse nc file. I'm a Delphi coder.

Looking back a year you may remember I was having what I thought was backlash problem on a genmitsu 4th axis unit.

I've completely solved this issue by installing a RATTMMOTOR k11 65 which is working brilliantly

Editing the NC code file of course is an alternative solution for this issue.
And: happy to hear that you managed to solve the problem with your 4th axis !
