Is it possible to perform side machining on a spindle so the cutter travels beside the part(spindle) as it cuts. I have linked a facebook video if you can access it. It looks like it is the outside of a vector of the spindle the tool is following while the rotary is turning thereby making short work of making a round part because a lot more of the cutter is being used rather than just the bottom.

Hi Dan,

That should be possible, however not as advanced as in the video.
One of the special cutters that you can define is the Horizontal cutter: Options > Library of cutters > OK on warning > Add > Select type Special and press Settings. The Help button in this dialog will explain how this works, and also how you can apply this on a machine with a vertical cutter.

This option (new in V8) has not yet been used much, so please share your experiences.
