When I try to set defaults under - Default Vector Operation Parameters, the settings I change under the 'General' and 'Z Settings' tabs become default. The change I make under the 'Profiling' tab under 'strategy' the "on Curve" setting will not become default. Using version 7.1 Free addition

I have to change this every time. So far, I haven't forgotten to change it. When I do forget, it's going to be a mess.

The issue that you describe is perfectly clear: thanks for reporting!
The wizards sometimes need to reset a default setting in order to work correctly, however here that not seem to be the case. So I will add a note to our to-do list to see if we can fix this.

I've been living with this bug for a long time. I was told it would be fixed in the update. I just now realized there was an update. The problem is still there. The "pen up" setting always goes back to 0.20

If I change machining depth Z-Value, it will save as default

I just tested this, both in DeskProto V7.1 and V8.0,
and in both cases the Z-values that I defined in the Default Vector parameters are automatically applied in the wizard.

However, I also found a bug: when running the Free edition the default Free movement height is not stored. So when I change the default and start the wizard it works, however once I restart DeskProto the default has been reset to 0.2".
This bug is present in both V71 and in V8. We will have it fixed in the next V88 bugfix update - for the old V7.1 we are no longer releasing new bugfix builds.

The reason this value is so important to me, and maybe no one else, is that I use my NC as a router and a vinyl cutter. When I'm using the vinyl cutting attachment, zero is not really zero. The blade holder is mounted with a spring. I use the Z value to control the blade pressure.
I set Z-0.25" as zero, so I need Z to be 0.50" or the blade will drag, cutting the vinyl when it moves to a new path.

We have just released a next bugfix version for DeskProto V8, in which this bug has been fixed: the default Free movement height now also is stored when running the Free edition.
