introduction video on our YouTube channel. You
already know about DeskProto, still the video may mention some aspects
that you did not yet know about. Next a few Tips & Tricks
(that I hope will be useful for you), information about an important
bugfix update and some great user projects.

New: introduction video
YouTube offers the option to create a trailer
video for a YouTube channel.
We created this
introduction video
(7 min) in which we explain what DeskProto is, what
it offers, the different editions, etc.
As you subscribed to the Newsletter you already know about DeskProto,
still this video may contain information that is new for
you. Subtitles are available in English and Dutch.

Tips & Tricks
The image above comes from
the latest Tips & Tricks page on our website: about dealing with
high vertical surfaces in your
geometry. It describes a problem that may occur when finishing, and
how to solve it.
More tips in a tutorial video that we released earlier this year:
How to configure a postprocessor in DeskProto
This video shows how you can edit a postprocessor,
and how you can fine-tune it, for instance
by adding comment lines to show the cutter name, operation
name, date, etc.

An important update !
The latest bugfix update (Service Release)
contains an important fix: an error was found in the
Inverse Time Feedrate
calculation. So when your machine uses this feature (only used for
rotation axis machining) make sure to update to the latest build.
This is a
free update (for users of DeskProto Version 7).
We are of course also working on the next version of DeskProto. The next
release will be a major upgrade, so DeskProto Version 8. As always:
we do not give any time estimation for new releases, as software development
cannot be kept to a fixed time schedule.

New machines have been added
We have been cooperating with two machine manufacturers
to facilitate using DeskProto with their machines.
For the Pocket NC machines this resulted
in a page on our website:
How to use DeskProto with the Pocket NC V2 milling machine.
For the SainSmart machines this resulted
in a "Getting started guide" for their rotary axis, written by
Graham Bland, who allowed us to share it on our website:
CAM software for SainSmart Genmitsu machines.
Since the previous newsletter we also added
machine definitions for Stepcraft, for
Shapeoko4 and for Masso-based machines.

DeskProto user projects
In this newsletter two interesting
projects by DeskProto users: The first is a broadcast on Japanese
television, in which the presenter visits DeskProto user
RoyMokkou (Japan). They show how they scan a
sculpture and then machine a replica in wood. You can view this
broadcast of Geka's scope on YouTube (10 min).
The second is a video created by DeskProto user
MountainMakers (USA). This short time-lapse
video (35 sec) shows how they machine a chess knight (horse) in
wood. You can view it via this
Instagram link.

Try for yourself with the latest DeskProto
Free edition:
it offers basic CAM functions free of charge!
It also offers the option to start any of the paid editions in trial
mode. For guidance you can use the tutorials (both
video and
PDF)
and the sample geometries.
Best Regards,
Lex Lennings.
