Two New Versions of DeskProto released by Delft Spline Systems.

Utrecht (NL) -- Jan 2, 2002 -- Delft Spline Systems of the Netherlands has released two new versions of the DeskProto 3D CAM software. The new Version 3.0 includes exciting new options, and makes sure that DeskProto remains the best solution in CAM software for Rapid Prototyping purposes. In addition a new version called DeskProto Lite is available, offering 3D CAM at a much lower price level and aimed at home users.

Most striking improvements are the support for a Rotation Axis, the Two-Sided Milling Wizard and the Intelligent Feedrate Control.
- Rotation axis support is unique for CAM software on this price-level. This option enables you to machine a model from all sides: ideal for product design, jewelry (rings in wax), small statues and more. See the illustrations with this article.
- The Two-sided milling wizard is unique even for any CAM software: a wizard that makes machining one model from two sides possible for users without CNC training. After turning the block upside-down for the second side, the user can proceed without having to carefully align the block or adjust the tool's starting point.
- Feedrate now can be automatically reduced in case of high chip-loads. DeskProto will notice when the tool has to cut at full width, and reduce feedrate there: the deeper the cut the more reduction. The result will be a superior surface quality, and a much longer tool-life.

Other improvements include support for multi-diameter tools, collet-collision prevention, machining time estimation and multi-language support. The second available language for DeskProto is German, more will follow. DeskProto full is priced EUR 1295 (ca USD 1150). More information can be found on page New in V 3.

DeskProto Lite offers a subset of DeskProto's functionality, at the very low price of EUR 295 (ca USD 260). All options needed for plain 3 axis machining in full 3D are available, upgrading to the full version is possible while maintaining file compatibility.
